The Absolute Basics

Q. What's a BBS?

A. It's a system that allows users to read and post messages. Some have expanded functionality, like door games and chat, but the basic function is to read and post.

Q. Why would I want to do that?

A. To meet people, chat with people, joke with people, talk with people, goof around with people, yell at people, tease people, laugh with people. It's all about people. Without being green.

Q. What do I have to do?

A. Connect to the board (see the "Board" tab above) and create a new account. See the "Logging In / Creating an Account" section of the tutorial.

Q. Then what?

A. Read and post messages. That's the point.

Q. Anything else I should know?

A. Yes. When using commands on the board, you only press the letter for the command; you don't type the entire command. In these tutorials, the letter you need to type for a command will be capitalized and placed in parentheses, like so: (L)ogin. There are some commands that require more than one parameter. When using these on the board, you first type a period (.), then the letter for each of the commands you are using. These are noted like so: .(T)erminate (Q)uit.

That's it. Go get started already!
