BeBS.net hosts a handful of sites. Here's some links to them:
The Dance Police
The Dance Police is a DDR tournament organization founded and
maintained by Xaroth. Anyone's free to join, or try out the rules for
any tournament they care to run. From time to time, there will be
DP-sponsored events that will end up there, so check back every so often.
Jovian Clouds
Kevin McColl is a longtime friend of mine who does exceptionally good design
work. Be sure to check out his page, and if you're looking for an excellent
web designer, he's your man.
Here's some of my current favorite sites. Others may end up here - be sure to share your fave's in Other Sites>.
Haiku OS
Haiku is the new name for OpenBeOS, an attempt to recreate, from scratch, an open-source,
binary compatible implementation of BeOS R5. As soon as they boot graphically on the
machine hosting 8088 Online!, I'll be switching to it.
BeBits
BeBits is the premier source for all things BeOS. Ok, well, just the software,
but that's the important part anyway. Everything there is either free or shareware,
so go check it out and see what's available for that OS you just downloaded.
Slashdot
If there ever was a geek news site, this is it. Sure, it's a little Linux-centric
(not that there's anything wrong with that), but there's always great news bits
there.
Homestar Runner
Homestar Runner is by far the best animation available on the 'net. Over
the past couple years, they've grown tremendously in popularity, and with
good reason. If you've never seen it, click on "First Time Here" at their
menu, and then just explore the site. The main attraction, though, is
definitely Strong Bad and his emails.
Something Awful
It's exactly what the name implies. It's the best of the worst of the web. Frequently
on the edge of what's acceptable at all, it's one of the best humor sites out there.
Ars Technica
Ars Technica is consistently one of, if not the, best technical sites on
the 'net today. From Mac to Linux to hardware architecture to protein folding,
they're always on the ball with in-depth guides and sound opinion.
Sinfest
It sounds dirty, but it's really not. Webcomics were invented so that art like
this could be allowed to exist. Yeah, it's very college-comic-y, but hey - that's
why we likes it.
Megatokyo
Come see Piro whine. Er, I mean, come see one of the best drawn webcomics in existance.
Allegedly updates every MWF, but good luck with that. Always worth the wait, though.
Angel Moxie
Never heard of this webcomic? Of course you haven't. But you should. So, now you have.
Follow the (mis)adventures of three young girls as they battle the forces of evil.
Penny Arcade
Video Games. Webcomic. Edgy. Tycho and Gabe. The site pokes fun at the whole
gaming genre without all that pesky "persistent plot" crap to worry about.
Kingdom of Loathing
An adventurer is you! This web-based game harkens back to the good old days of BBS
doors. I mean, it's no Scary Caverns, but then again, I'm biased that way. Filled
with inside jokes and a sense of the absurd, this is the webgame to play.
Come join clan 8088!
Topix
The granddaddy of all news aggregation sites. Oh, sure, you're saying "Where's my
RSS?!", but in the absence of that, it's nice to have a single site with a million
news sites feeding it content.
